Lent Meditation: Day 3 - February 20, 2026
📖 Scripture Verse
“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
🕯️Meditation
The word for “worry” here might be better rendered “preoccupied”. As finite, frail, mortal creatures we cannot help but have some concerns about the future which we cannot see, and all the unknowns that may affect our lives for ill. Yet Paul is teaching the church that the Lord Jesus is close to us—he is our friend and brother, so we can give thanks for that, and hand over to him all that we cannot control. We do not let anxiety or fear become the pilots of our mind. We exchange our desire for knowledge and control that we cannot ever truly have for the peace that is beyond knowledge, beyond the grasp of our controlling natures. We set aside our worry that comes from our human limits for the guardianship of God in Christ.
🙏 Prayer
Jesus, I have so much on my mind that troubles me. Let me hand all this to you, trusting and giving thanks for your love and friendship; give me peace for my worry. Amen.
